Education That Fits

After watching 'Clouds of Sidra' again I can't stop thinking about the children who do not want to participate in education within the refugee site. They are waiting until they return home to go to school. This for many children will be years and for some never. What else is there for these children to get excited about? What alternative programs could be put in place to encourage these children to participate in some form of education?

Globally there are also children that do not want to participate in formal education, some schools offer alternative practical education programs. What education could a 'child friendly learning space' offer these children. Could there be more practical educational programs such as basic engineering, carpentry, and building skills incorporated into the safe and nurturing 'child friendly learning spaces'? Engaging these students in a form of education will empower them and they will gain necessary skills to assist in the future transformation of their communities by being able to support the reconstruction of buildings, roads and bridges.
